Whale Watching - Round #2

This past weekend I headed back to the beach to get in some whale watching and hiking at Isla de la Plata.  We headed to MontaƱita right after school on Friday.  It is always an interesting place filled with hippies and surfers.  It has a lot of character.  Whale watching is done out of Puerto Lopez.  Puerto Lopez is a fishing town where they pull in anything from sharks to manta rays.  Walking the beach can always be interesting to see (and SMELL!) the day's catch.  Whale watching was even more successful than the first time that I went.  We saw around 8 humpbacks.  We had one that jumped completely out of the water.  We also saw a handful of sea turtles on our way to and from the island.  On the island there are two trails.  I chose the trail that I hadn't experienced the last time.  We saw blue footed boobies, red footed boobies, frigate birds, and more.  Check out the pics:
  Puerto Lopez . . . a fisherman's dream, a nose's nightmare!
Not exactly Jaws, but a good catch.
 Poor little hammerhead!
A sailless sailfish.

I think he is waving to us!
Now I know for sure . . . he is definitely waving.
OK . . . you already said hi!
Fine Ecuadorian flag on the rough Ecuadorian waters.
Hi friends.
Frigate birds on Isla de la Plata.  The males puff out their red chests to attract a mate.

Time to go back home. . . do we have to????????

 Much love and take care!
