Day 6 - Isla Española/San Cristóbal

In the morning of Day 6, we went to Punta Suárez on Isla Española looking for marine iguanas, boobies, waved albatross, lava lizards, and more.  We were also scheduled to walk to a blow hole that functions with correct conditions.  We saw everything that was on the agenda, including the blow hole.  In the afternoon, we went to Gardner Bay which was a beautiful white sand beach home to a large colony of Galapagos sea lions.  Snorkeling was accomplished from the beach and was pretty amazing.  One of the biggest highlights were the sea lions.  The were really curious and wanted to interact, darting in and out of snorkelers.  It was a lot of fun.  We also saw ENORMOUS rays.  Another highlight was an octopus.  In addition, at times there were very large schools of tropical fish.  I will have my underwater pictures in about a week's time.  After snorkeling, we travelled to San Cristóbal were we rang in the New Year.  People were burning their monigotes on the streets and having fun.  Here are some pictures from the day:
